THANK YOU :-)

Thank you to everyone who donated items for the corn cakes, butter, and milk. We had a fun and yummy time!!! :-) A lot of the kids have been asking for the recipe and said they like the corncakes better than regular pancakes. The recipe is actually on the side of the Jiffy Cornbread Mix box.

What have we been up to...

Boy have we been busy in L.E.A.P. the last couple of weeks...We made a special surprise project with corn husks; we ate and described raw corn using our five senses; we have been learning all kinds of things about corn such as the products it's in, where it's grown, it's history, etc.; we made and ate corncakes and milk.

Thank you!!!

I was so happy to see everyone come back from Fall Break, excited for L.E.A.P. Eventhough we had a short week (3 days due to no school Monday and me being out on Tuesday) we got a lot done...

  • Almost everyone completed their scarecrow poems and scarecrows. They are hanging in the hallways, so please come check them out.
  • Everyone started writing a Fall version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" and creating a PowerPoint to go with it.
  • Some groups learned about two new websites, www.tuxpi.com and www.fodey.com, that they can use on current and future projects.

Nice to See Ya...

It was nice to see many of the parents of my L.E.A.P. students at conferences or just walking around on campus. If I did not see you, and you have any questions, concerns, or anything that I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Fall Break!!!

The Last Two Weeks

Well, I must say, it has been quite a busy last couple of weeks...Everyone is almost done typing their "Oobleck Moon Stories" and most are in the process of editing. I ask that they edit the paper by themselves, with a peer and with me. I am amazed at the stories that they have created!!!
We have also been working on a "Scarecrow Poems" and made scarecrows to go with them. We will finish them up after break so come check the hallway after break. The poems are all fabulous and some of them are pretty funny.

Homework

From time to time, L.E.A.P. students may have some homework to do. It should not be very often and is usually only assigned if a student is behind due to an absence and/or not staying on task during L.E.A.P. Due to the fact that I see them for a limited amount of time, having them take something home for homework is necessary in order to keep from getting behind on their L.E.A.P. assignments. Also, I will usually staple the homework into their planner/aganda. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Hello

So I have finally got the L.E.A.P Blog up and running. It took me some time to figure out this "blog stuff", but think I have at least gotten the basics down. Please take some time to take a look at some of the links to the right and familiarize yourself with the Blog. At each week's end, I will post what we did during L.E.A.P. for the week. In addition, I will provide other posts and/or updates as necessary, so please plan on checking the blog at least once a week.
